Can video really drive change and raise awareness?
The recent global success of Adolescence and, before that, ITV’s #MrBatesvsThePostOffice prove something I’ve long believed: powerful storytelling cuts through the noise. When done right, drama doesn’t just entertain—it shifts public perception, sparks outrage, and leads to real-world change.
We live in an era of AI-generated content and political narratives that sideline expertise in favour of "alternative truths." In this landscape, authentic storytelling isn’t just wanted—it’s needed. People have a built-in BS detector, and they crave narratives that are authentic, raw, and human.
Who would have thought that authenticity would become our greatest storytelling superpower?
As a storyteller, I’ve seen firsthand how the right narrative, told in the right way, can challenge injustice, inspire action, and reshape the way we see the world. So, the question isn’t whether storytelling can create change—it’s how we use it to do so.
How do you see storytelling shaping the world around us?
