Keeping the City Running: Behind the Scenes with Kimpton

"If your industry was gone tomorrow, would your city still work?"

It’s a big question, and it’s the one that sat at the heart of our recent film project with Kimpton.

When we were first asked to collaborate with the team at Kimpton, we knew this wasn't going to be your standard corporate video. Kimpton is a company with deep roots, strong ethical morals, and have a genuine obsession with investing in their young people.

From Concept to Screen

The process was a total pleasure from day one. Kimpton came to us with a clear sense of identity—they know exactly who they are and what they stand for—but they were incredibly open to creative ideas on how to tell that story.

Our goal was to bridge the gap between the massive scale jobs they do and show the every day impact they have on the communities they serve. We wanted to move away from "polished corporate speak" and move toward something that felt lived-in and real.

The Power of Authentic Voices

The standout element of this film, for us, is the authentic "piece-to-camera" action.

Instead of using actors or scripted executives, we worked with Kimpton young staff and apprentices. There is a specific kind of energy you get when a young person talks about their trade and their future; it’s honest, it’s unfiltered, and it’s incredibly persuasive.

Getting these apprentices to speak directly to the camera allowed their passion to shine through. By focusing on these real faces and real voices, we feel the video moves beyond marketing and becomes a testament to the company culture Kimpton has spent decades building.
